My first Chinese New Year in Singapore

Gong Xi Fatt Cai !

I couldn’t go back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year. What a sad day! This was because my right eye got infected due to wear contact lens for long hour everyday. After I consulted doctor and I realized that it was so serious that it might cause my right eye blind. I admitted to Singapore Changi General Hospital for eye treatment immediately. Doctor said that there was an ulcer right in the middle of my right eye cornea. If I didn’t have properly treatment for my eye, my right eye cornea might be permanent damage that would cause blindness. I was stunned when I heard it. I was astonished that it was a serious case. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. It was few more days to celebrate Chinese New Year. Hence, I hoped that I could go back to Malaysia to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family after I discharged from hospital. However, doctor said it was a little bit risky for me that I had to travel all the way back to Malaysia and my eye couldn’t have rest enough. In addition, my eye condition still had not stable yet. Therefore, I had to stay back in Singapore for the eye treatment. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t go home.

It was freaking boring in Singapore during Chinese New Year. Singapore became a dead city. I stayed at home for all day long. It was just like an ordinary day for me. SAD! That’s all for now since my eye still haven’t recover yet, couldn’t stand for too long, need some rest now. Will update more soon.

<--- my right eye when it got infected.

p/s :

Thanks for the concern of all my friends in States now, eg Kai Jie, Hui Tat, Kendrick, Jason and so on.

Thanks Wen Ci that keep updating me about the class progress, and the concern from my classmates.

Last but not least, I definitely want to thanks my family that gave me support and meticulous care.

Last makan-makan trip

It was last day of my makan-makan trip. I went to Dome café in KLCC with my friend. The Dome café in KLCC has the best quality of food among all the branches in Malaysia. Coffee drinks of Dome café are famous cause of it’s not too sweet like The Coffee Beans café. I like it.

We decided to have cold drinks to refresh ourselves after a long shopping. LOL. I had Choc-A-Block, which was full of chocolate flavor, it blended with some coffee bean and it served with some milk chocolate. Fantastic! The iced mocha was not so bad too. The mocha flavor was strong enough. So far so good.

I had grilled chicken in creamy sauce. I had not much comment on this dish since it was just normal grilled chicken rice with some creamy mustard sauce. My friend had spicy chicken mushroom spaghetti. It’s not spicy at all. But it was novelty for us since it tasted not bad too. I guess the sauce was probably made by sour cream mayonnaise with a lil bit of Tabasco.

We were stuffed but I still wanted to order a dessert as a beautiful ending. We had pancake stack with vanilla ice-cream. The sweetness of honey and ice-cream match with the sourness of the berries had made it just nice. Bravo!

After that, we walked from KLCC all the way to The Pavilion and I bought some J-Co Donuts. I had to queue for at least 30 minutes for the goddamn donuts. Nevertheless, it’s worth cause I like to eat sweet stuff, and it was not too sweet like Dunkin Donuts. The donuts itself was so floppy. It’s good though.

After a long long day, we went back to Wangsa Maju and had curry noodle as our dinner. Most of the people went there for the dry curry chicken noodles. And of course I had it too. It was hot, the flavor of herbs in the curry with just a little bit of coconut milk tasted mild. I like their home made chili shrimp paste. It was so good. I was sweating that my shirt got wet thoroughly because the weather was freaking hot while eating he spicy food. I like the indescribable but a lill bit exciting feeling though. With the hot and spicy noodles under the mugginess condition, I end my makan-makan trip. Hope that I would have my next makan-makan trip again. So long!

Sawadeekap~~~

I went for Thai cuisine alone since I’ve nothing to do. What a bad excuse! LOL. Probably I miss Thailand food too much since I went backpack to Thailand before. It’s irresistible once you had Thai cuisine, particular the Thai famous soup, Tom Yam Khong. I went to Chakri Palace in KLCC. The atmosphere was not too bad. I had a star fruit juice. For appetizer, I had a Tom Yam Talay (Seafood Tom Yam). A typical Tom Yam soup is not cooked by using those Tom Yam paste. It’s used a lot of lemon grasses, cilantro (Chinese parsley), lemon leaves, onions, shallots, and chilies. It has a very strong pungent smell. And your mouth would be filled up by saliva once you smell the sourness and pungent smell. It tasted so good and you couldn’t stop drinking it once you have started to drink it, even though it’s very spicy. That’s the enchantment of Tom Yam soup. For the main course, I had a Khow Phad Talay (seafood fried rice). It’s just an ordinary seafood fried rice. Then I had a Kuey Teow NaNoung (mango and coconut milk flat noodles) as my dessert. I wanted to eat the Thai famous dessert, mango sticky rice, but I had it before. Thus I tried Kuey Teow NaNoung. It’s tasted good, the flavor of coconut and the sweetness of mango were perfect match. You should give it a try too. I like Thai cuisine since it’s fascinating in appetizer, main course and even dessert, acclaim as a peak of perfection. Ngoht Ngaam!
